Jonathan C. Shoemaker, Esquire

Jonathan practices in civil and commercial litigation, concentrating on the representation of design professionals in construction-related disputes.

Prior to joining Lee & McShane, P.C., Jonathan represented owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and sureties in litigation and arbitration throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia (as both first-chair and second-chair) in contract disputes. Jonathan’s trial and arbitration experience includes:

 - Obtaining a $2+ million jury verdict for breach of a guaranty agreement following a three-day trial;

- Obtaining a $600,000+ award for breach of a construction contract following a six-day arbitration; and,

- Obtaining a $275,000+ judgment for breach of promissory notes after a one-day bench trial.

Jonathan’s experience also includes defending an owner from breach of contract and tortious interference with business relations claims, resulting in a favorable settlement mid-way through a six-day arbitration.

In addition to an active litigation practice, Jonathan taught “Construction Law and Contracts,” a nine-week course for students in Westwood College’s Construction Management Program.

Jonathan is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law (J.D., 2007) and Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut (B.A., 2004, Phi Beta Kappa).

Jonathan is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
